DEFINITIONS OF BASIC ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS

BASIC ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS 1. RESISTOR A passive electronic component, manufactured with a specified amount of resistance. It is mainly used to control the flow of current. It allows desired amount of voltage in electronic or electrical circuits. Its unit is ohms. 2. INDUCTOR A passive electronic component, manufactured with a specified amount of inductance. When electricity is passed, the inductor stores energy in a magnetic field and induces the voltage. It is mainly used for tuning and filtering circuits. Its unit is Henry(H). 3. CAPACITOR A passive electronic component, manufactured with a specified amount of capacitance. It will charge or store energy in an electric field. It blocks dc current and allows ac current. Its unit is Farad(F). 4. TRANSISTOR A semiconductor component, used for amplification. It regulates the current and voltage flow in a circuit. It has three terminals for connection with external circuits. It acts as a s...
